It is important to know that there are two kinds of food. The first is “Temptation Food”, which creates temptation for us on a conscious level. It comes from smelling something wonderful in the oven, or seeing the very tempting treats that someone baked at home and brought in to work. Seeing and smelling this food makes you physically hungry for it.

Perhaps you were otherwise occupied, focussing on a book or movie, when you suddenly think of a certain type of junk food. This is just food that you crave not food you need, this is just boredom food. No desire is created by being physcially near the food, but rather the desire can appear out of nowhere for no apparent reason. You may not even be hungry before you think of this food, you may have even made a commitment not to consume it, but thinking about it will make you hunger for it. The other kind of food mentioned is food that actually makes you relax and it is appropriately called “relaxation food”. This food is actually good for you, for your health, weight and happiness, this is good, nourishing food. This is food that your body naturally desires and so will naturally seek. Studies have been done showing that children left alone with a variety of food choices will naturally choose the healthy options that are good for them. Oranges are great for colds, and children who are ill will naturally reach for an orange over other available options. Children will make the healthy, smart choices even amid many other, less healthy options.

Temptation food is not satisfying for you, because it is not what you really desire, it is not what your body is really seeking. You can eat as much of it as you want, and yet you will not feel truly satisfied because the nutritional needs of your body have not been met by it. It will fill you up, but you won’t be satisfied and before you know it you will be looking for something else. And to further complicate matters, it is this kind of cycle of eating without satisfaction that creates unhealthy food obsessions. Therefore, anytime you are seeking to lose weight and maintain a healthier physique, you will need to eat food that truly satisfies the desires of your body. Before eating any food, regardless of whether it’s a meal or a snack, you should take a moment to close your eyes, breath deeply, and ask yourself what you are truly craving. You are not going to worry about what you actually have available, you are only going to ask yourself what your body actually wants. The answer that comes to you could be absolutely anything. You will find that doing this is effective because you are not being influenced by any smells or appearances of food, but you are simply listening to your body and what it truly needs.

Once you know what food your body actually is looking for, you will want to consume that food. You can enjoy as much of it as you want, but stick to just that food. It is also important that you eat slowly and with the purpose of filling that need of your body. As you chew and swallow, focus on your body. By doing this, you will prevent overeating as you will naturally stop as soon as your body’s need is satisfied.

We all have this inner voice regarding what our bodies need, but most of us have forgotten how to listen to it. Some people were also never taught how to listen to it, and probably aren’t even aware that it exists. Therefore, temptation food becomes the staple for some people’s diets, creating unhealthy eating habits, food-obsessions and constant overeating. This is how the mind game is allowed to operate and control your life.
